IN FOCUS: Things that spark joy

A lifetime of collecting in Europe by Caroline Quartermaine, the internationally renowned artist to be sold by Merchant & Found

Merchant & Found, the UK’s leading online vintage retailer is to launch a series of ‘curated collections’ which have been sourced by the artist Carolyn Quartermaine over many years for her homes and studios in London and St Paul de Vence, South of France,

The collections will range in size and price but each one has been placed together by Carolyn using her exceptional skill and eye. The collections represent a lifetime passion and curiosity for beautiful, sourced objects collected over many years, from simple collections of beautiful glass through to unique patinated metal work and decorative pieces, textiles and tapestries

“We have long been fans of Carolyn Quartermaine’s work having seen her artistry at Sketch and her incredible photography and cyanotype art. We were introduced through a mutual friend and felt there was an obvious symmetry, allowing Carolyn an avenue for her collection of incredible vintage – collaborating with such a brilliant creative artist brings a new softer feminine dimension to what we already offer”

Sourcing beautiful things is a huge skill, but putting collections together takes it to the next level. Each collection has been chosen and styled personally by Carolyn Quartermaine. The ‘gold’ is the way they are presented – of course there are some lovely pieces with their own story and those pieces that have been her ‘friends’ over the years but the difference is Carolyn as personally curated each collection with her unique eye.” Paul Middlemiss founder, Merchant & Found.

“As an artist, the collaboration with Merchant & Found provides a perfect partnership to bring to market some of my iconic pieces. This collaboration allows selected pieces from my homes, studios, and collections to be brought into a new light.”

Each piece in the collection has a story and has been sourced from all over Europe. Many have appeared, often front cover in Vogue ,Veranda, Elle Decoration and other titles over the years and have become much loved ‘friends.’ I’m delighted to be able to present them in a way that has meaning allowing clients to buy pieces that work perfectly together – style and curated by me with love.
