Celebrated ceramicist Arjan Dal for The Conran Shop: Family of Vases

The Conran Shop has collaborated with celebrated ceramicist Arjan Van Dal on an exclusive new collection, Family of Vases, inspired by an original series designed by Sir Terence Conran in the 1990s.

This marks the first time the London-based potter has worked on a large-scale production, having previously focused on one-off pieces. The resulting collection spans 21 distinctive vases across nine complementary hues, each designed to be displayed individually or as a collected series. Available from £35 to £60, the vases will launch with an in-store installation this August. .

“It has been a painstaking but rich creative process which took months to perfect as we searched the archives to find the exact colour, shape and finish for each piece in the range. My original inspiration was the ceramics Terence Conran created in the 1990’s. It was fascinating to see how vibrant colour interacts with geometric yet soft 3D shapes – I am extremely proud of the finished ‘family’ , a harmony of colour and form that sits together perfectly.” Arjan Van Dal.

Made in Portugal from earthenware, each vase is slip-cast from Arjan’s original hand-thrown masters. Their curved, architectural silhouettes are designed to catch the light and cast soft shadows, with tonal variations that emphasise their sculptural nature.
