Hamish Powell creates award winning installation for The Conran Shop
Hamish Powell Studio collaborates with The Conran Shop with ‘A Galaxy in Two Dimensions’, which subsequently won the innovation award at the 2026 Chelsea in Bloom Festival. The artwork featured thousands of hand-placed pressed flowers - daisies, pansies and delphiniums layered between perspex acrylic and mounted in suspension at The Conran Shop flagship store.
The London-based multidisciplinary floral artist brings together botanical science, art and fashion in a practice centred on emotional expression through flowers. Designed as a floral interpretation of the cosmos, with the botanical fragments arranged to look like swirling galaxies and constellations, the Chelsea in Bloom judging panel praised his work for its ‘technical execution and use of dried flowers’. Part of an area-wide celebration of flowers that culminates in extravagant floral displays among the luxury brands in the area - from Anya Hindmarch to Little Green. It is a celebratory Chelsea Flower Show spillover event that has become as widely photographed and shared on social media as the Chelsea Flower Show itself.
