Pull up a stool at London’s chicest new bar
The Lalique Bar designed by Elicyon at WOW!house Chelsea Harbour is a master class in materiality. Featuring backlit glowing crystal as the room’s dazzling jewel with secret alcoves to be discovered - a jewel box space that makes everyone in it come alive.
Designed to live on after the show, which runs until 2nd July.
British bespoke joinery firm, James Wellesley created the panels in the room to come apart and be reassembled. We are already looking forward to its next life!
Timber panelling wraps the room, hosting bar cabinetry, discreet storage, and a champagne fridge within its refined walls. Compartments open to reveal back-lit display niches, transforming intrigue into moments of discovery. Lalique’s iconic crystal panels are reinterpreted in a bold, asymmetrical composition, offset by a stretched fabric ceiling and sumptuous carpet underfoot, lending softness and acoustic calm.
The concept of the box of delights is expressed through layers. Pendant lights and backlit alcoves showcase Lalique’s craftsmanship, from historic designs to contemporary pieces, while surfaces are selected to evoke stillness and tactility. Compartments also deliver surprise treats for the visitor. The result is a space that rewards curiosity, revealing its character gradually rather than at first glance.
“This is a room that celebrates the pleasure of unveiling, a journey for the curious,” says Charu Gandhi, Founder and Director of Elicyon. “Luxury here is about precision, comfort and atmosphere rather than spectacle. We wanted the space to feel intimate and indulgent, and to present Lalique through a crisp, contemporary lens.”
The Bar Room also reflects a renewed cultural interest in entertaining at home. Within a modest footprint, Elicyon has created a setting that functions equally as bar, lounge and social retreat, a place for conversation, repose and ritual.
“Hosting is back at the forefront,” adds Rebecca Larn, Associate Director at Elicyon. “This room shows how even a small space can feel both glamorous and grounding. It’s layered but effortless, somewhere to unwind, pour a drink or gather with friends. It is refined, but also doesn’t take itself too seriously, evoking moments of fun and surprise.”
Craft lies at the heart of the collaboration. Lalique’s century-long mastery of crystal is paired with Elicyon’s contemporary approach to materiality and form. Arches and curves reference Lalique’s Art Deco heritage and flagship architecture, reinterpreted in a modern idiom. Every element, from the glow of a wall sconce to the curvature of a joinery detail, is designed to heighten the sensory experience.
“We are delighted to partner with Elicyon on a space that celebrates crystal in a contemporary way,” says Frederick Fischer, Managing Director, Lalique UK. “Crystal brings light, depth and surprise to any interior, and the bar is a perfect setting for Lalique to shine in a modern context.”
Together, Elicyon and Lalique present a room that is at once serene and spirited, a contemporary expression of craft, heritage and the art of living well.
The WOW! House Bar has been conceived as a truly shoppable exhibition, where every element is available for purchase. Designed with flexibility in mind, the Bar can be seamlessly integrated into both residential and commercial environments, offering a ready-made statement space of exceptional craftsmanship and design.
